Title: Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman
Author: Jon Krakauer
I recommend that everybody read this book. It is written by Jon Krakauer and paints a wonderful, yet tragic, portrait of a great man and served as one of many bastions of inspiration for me to start this blog. For those that don't know, Pat Tillman was an NFL safety for the Arizona Cardinals who turned down a $3.6 million dollar contract to serve in Afghanistan after the September 11 attacks. He was killed by friendly fire in dubious circumstances and the investigation into his death became very controversial. I encourage all to read this book as Krakauer unveils some of the military's seemingly corrupt practices and overall incompetence in its lower ranks (Tillman wrote about the young "grunts" and their shenanigans in bootcamp). So head to your local Barnes and Noble or what have you and pick up this great piece of literature.
