Thought of the Day

In light of Fidel Castro's death and the maelstrom of varying responses to it, one must ask himself many questions. First, is it acceptable as an outsider to celebrate the man's death? I have witnessed much of that, especially in America, and it reminds me of how we celebrated Osama bin Laden and Muammar Gaddafi's deaths as if death, even the deaths of despotic and presumably evil men, is something to be cherished. Second, will the Cuban people prosper in a post-Castro world? Iraq certainly hasn't prospered in a post-Hussein world, although I doubt the average Iraqi, or Middle Easterner in general, would say they would like to go back to the Hussein days. Lastly, what lessons can we learn from the socialist legacy which Castro left behind?
