I support homosexuals and homosexual parents. However, women, gay or straight, cannot teach boys to be men, in the traditional sense, as well as men can. The inverse, of course, is also true. Gay parents, then, would benefit from having a third party of the opposite sex, an "aunt" or "uncle," help raise their children, if their goal is to instill traditional gender roles. Heterosexual parents with gay children would receive the same benefit from having a gay surrogate parent around. The point is to have parents who can relate to their kids and prepare them for what lies ahead. Regardless of sexuality or gender identity, there are always going to be inept parents. Some unfortunate souls are born with that burden.
