Here's an anecdote which summarizes our country's attitude towards nutrition: while working in the market at my big important job at the big important consumer zombie palace known as Target, I passed a young lady who was looking at an assortment of V8 juices, and after briefly glancing at the labels she proclaimed, "Eww, this has fruits and vegetables in it!" I then paused, surveyed the aisles and aisles of preservative-laden, highly-processed foods, and shed a solitary tear like that American Indian in those old Keep America Beautiful commercials.
