Thought of the Day
I don't think many people have weighed the environmental damage caused by our overzealous response to the Wuhanvirus against the collective health benefits. Another striking example of the myopia and incongruity of left-wing thought. These people fancy themselves champions of the natural world, its stewards. Think about the waste generated by the billions of masks that have been manufactured that otherwise would not have been; non-medical-grade masks that do little to prevent the spread of the virus; masks with NFL team logos and neat patterns and slogans that serve more as fashion statements than health measures. Then, we have the waste generated by the surplus of flu vaccines manufactured in anticipation of people who do not ordinarily get the flu shot, because, for some reason, "this year's flu shot will be the most important one ever," to paraphrase Fauci and company. Then, we have the waste generated by the supply of prescription drugs, like hydroxychloroquine, for which there is scant evidence of effectiveness in treating Wuhanvirus, that people would not otherwise want. Then, in addition, the supply of pharmaceuticals for people who obtained unnecessary prescriptions because they had a hiccup and thought it was the 'rona. Then, there is all that tape to make arrows on the floor to show people where to walk inside buildings, and signs reminding people to social distance, and "masks required" signs, and, mustn't I forget, the hand sanitizer! That viscous gold! All of this because liberal scientists, medical doctors, and health organizations have deemed themselves our lords. The people who are feverish about mitigating the contributions of human activity to global warming are, ironically, amplifying the discord of the natural world by politicizing a relatively harmless virus. Yikes.
