Thought of the Day

It baffles me every time I encounter an immigrant with a tenuous grasp of the English language. Not because I'm xenophobic or anti-immigration, but because I'm pragmatic. I can't imagine living in another country and not speaking the native tongue. Do some immigrants think it's more inconvenient and time-consuming to learn English than it is to face a daunting, ubiquitous language barrier? I need to ask a Spanish-speaking immigrant about his thought process regarding this decision.
