Thought of the Day

It's funny how people put arbitrary limitations on what is considered acceptable to eat, especially in Western cultures. For instance, it's a general rule of thumb not to eat reptiles, except with backwoods Southern folks who occasionally eat an alligator or frog. I can agree with this rule. Reptiles are evil and primordial, and I doubt they taste very good given their scaly and/or leathery skin. Insects, however, are unjustifiably banned from the Western menu. Why? Lobsters are considered a delicacy, and they are basically a marine cockroach. They eat cockroach in many other places, why not in the U.S.? This is an untapped resource. We are facing an ecological crisis due to our dependence on animal agriculture, and cockroach is a viable source of protein, as is cricket, and worm, and slug, and grasshopper, and so on. The food corporations should explore this opportunity.
