Thought of the Day

Call me old-fashioned, even antiquated if you'd like, but that murderous seductress in Ex Machina is yet another example from fiction of why AI needs to be met with skepticism. The dilemma is it's difficult to decide who is least likeable: the robot, its creator, or the schlepper who fell for its damn, dirty robot schemes. In contrast, we have Hugh Glass in The Revenant. Now that's a likeable character and a paragon of a lost ideal we need more of in modern society. Point being, in their obsessive and deluded pursuit of immortality, Ray Kurzweil and company are gonna doom us all. Who in their right mind thinks, "Hey, being an organism is lame, I wanna be a machine?" Jerks, that's who.
