Thought of the Day
I saw a commercial yesterday claiming each cigarette a person smokes takes 7 minutes off their lives. What kind of indecipherable, contrived BS is that? So if someone is fatally gored by a bull at the age of 37 at 1:00pm on a Tuesday, and he's smoked 198 cigarettes in his life, then if he hadn't smoked any cigarettes he would've died around 12:00pm on Wednesday? Tell me, fatalistic medical researcher, would he still have been gored by that bull? Or would he have fallen down the stairs on his way to the market? These types of claims presume cigarette smoking will be the direct cause of your death when hundreds of lifestyle choices and genetic factors play a role, not to mention the potential of freakish fatal accidents.
